Optimal long-term performance of a variable valve timing (VVT) system requires a reliable and rugged cam phaser, also known as a timing sprocket. The factory phasers on certain Ford and Lincoln trucks and SUVs with a 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine can fail prematurely from excessive internal wear. This Dorman OE FIX exhaust cam phaser features significant upgrades to the original equipment design to provide longer service life and better performance than the OEM replacement. A two-step locking pin and deeper receiving seat replace the factory sprocket's straight pin design, providing more secure engagement and stability during phaser actuations that eliminates the rattling sound typical of a malfunctioning sprocket. This cam phaser also has an innovative oil wiper designed with concave sealing edges, an upgrade from the factory's flat wiper profile.
